Fun StuffNursery RhymesWhat Are Little Boys Made Of?
What are little boys made of, made of? What are little boys made of? "Snaps and snails, and puppy dogs' tails; And that's what little boys are made of." What are little girls made of, made of? What are little girls made of? "Sugar and spice, and all that's nice; And that's what little girls are made of." ![]() These two familiar stanzas are part of a much longer poem sometimes called "What Folks Are Made Of" or "What All the World Is Made Of." Although many different versions have appeared over the years, it seems that those michievous little boys grow into mischievous young men: "Thorns and briars, they're all bad liars." Young women, on the other hand, are made of "Ribbons and laces and sweet pretty faces" or "Rings and jings and other fine things." Mother Osprey Poem: Buoys & Gulls Illustration by L.
