Nursery Rhymes

Sleep, Baby, Sleep
Sleep, baby, sleep,
Our cottage vale is deep:
The little lamb is on the green,
With woolly fleece so soft and clean —
Sleep, baby, sleep.

Sleep, baby, sleep,
Down where the woodbines creep;
Be always like the lamb so mild,
A kind, and sweet, and gentle child.
Sleep, baby, sleep.
Sleep, Baby, Sleep
Many nursery rhymes, including "Sleep, Baby, Sleep," can be sung as lullabies. A lullaby, or cradlesong, is a tune used to "lull" a baby to sleep. The most famous nursery rhyme lullaby is "Rock-a-Bye Baby." The most famous lullaby written by a classical composer is Brahms' Lullaby, composed by Johannes Brahms. When a lullaby is written by a classical composer, it is called a berceuse, which is French for lullaby.
